Master of Science in Nursing Mission Statement & Aims of the Department
The mission of the Department of Graduate Studies in Nursing
is to provide graduate nursing education within the context
of a Christian academic community, to equip nurses as agents
for change through advanced practice in diverse primary health
care settings and active engagement in improving the health
and well-being of individuals and communities, both locally
and globally.
The aims of the Department of Graduate Studies in Nursing are
to:
-Provide a Christ-centered academic environment where graduate
nursing students are encouraged to critically examine
and confirm or refine their personal and professional values
-Expect graduate nursing students to strive for academic excellence
within the professional discipline
-Equip graduate students with the competencies of advanced practice
nursing
-Mentor graduate nursing students in professional leadership
and advanced practice role development
Program Objectives
The objectives of the Master of Science in Nursing program are to prepare advanced practice nurses to:
1. Enhance the development of the nursing profession through critical inquiry and the acquisition of advanced knowledge.
2. Demonstrate application of knowledge, cultural competence, advanced communication skills and advanced practice competencies in the care of and health promotion of clients in various health care settings.
3. Demonstrate professional values in various health care settings.
4. Assume leadership and collaborative roles with other disciplines and health care delivery systems for the purpose of improving health care.
