Indiana Wesleyan University offers a Master of Science in Nursing with a major in
Primary
Care for nurse practitioners. IWU also offers majors in Nursing Education and Nursing Administration to address needs in these growing fields. In addition, Post
Master's Degree certificates options are available for master's
prepared nurses. You will find our programs are:
Convenient- Because work demands placed on health care professionals are increasing, Indiana Wesleyan University's College of Graduate Studies strategically added online components to course offerings. Some graduate-level courses are offered in IWU's unique "EduFlex" format which blends online course work with your face-to-face learning. Generally, EduFlex courses cut the number of classroom-based sessions in half. For 100% online courses you will benefit from the ultimate in course accessibility and convenience by learning any place at any time.
Primary Care Nursing major - Some courses are provided via EduFlex, a combination of onsite classes and online coursework. Many courses within the core curriculum are offered entirely online. And, practicum courses are all onsite. The Nurse Practitioner concentrations are in Gerontology and Family.
Nursing Administration major (Online) - All course work online.
Nursing Education major (Online) - All course work online.
Practicum experiences for all degree programs may be arranged in a location of your choice, with faculty approval.
Accredited- IWU's graduate nursing programs
are accredited by the Commission
on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), 202-887-6791, the only agency
devoted exclusively to the accreditation of baccalaureate and
higher degree nursing programs.
Practical- Our faculty are actively engaged
in clinical practice. Nurse Practitioner graduates are educated as advanced
practice nurses and are eligible to take certification exams
as family or gerontologic nurse practitioners. Graduates in Nursing Education will become part of the solution to the current nursing shortage as they take jobs in nursing schools, or assume educational leadership positions within hospitals and communities. Nursing Administration graduates will be prepared to assume leadership roles within a variety of health care settings, and will have the foundation necessary to work as a nurse educator within the university setting.
